Set in the quiet small town of Bothwell, this cafe offers a cozy, relaxed spot to enjoy a simple, hearty meal or a break from the road. Many visitors come for the homemade pies—particularly the venison and curried rabbit varieties—which are often paired with a garden salad and house-made relish. Alongside these, there’s a range of comforting options like creamy chicken and bacon fettuccine, beef lasagne, and soups served with toasted sourdough. Those looking for lighter or vegetarian choices will find zucchini slices with salad, nachos, and a variety of healthy and small plate options.
The atmosphere feels calm and inviting, with indoor seating warmed by a fireplace and a few outdoor tables for quiet moments in the fresh air. It’s a place where solo diners, locals, tourists, or groups can all find a comfortable spot—whether they’re catching up on work with a laptop or chatting over a drink. The tea selection and coffee gather plenty of appreciation, including smooth chai lattes and rich brewed coffee. For a sweet finish or afternoon treat, the scones with jam and cream stand out, often enjoyed alongside a nicely spiced soy chai or a classic hot beverage.
Beyond the food, there’s a small gift shop featuring local finds, adding a little extra charm to a visit. Accessibility is thoughtfully addressed here, with wheelchair-friendly parking and restrooms, as well as free parking on site and nearby street spots. This cafe suits those passing through the Midlands or anyone after a quiet, grounded place to pause in a historic township setting.

5 Stopped here while on a road trip for some lunch and loved the small town feel of the cafe. You could tell every customer was very satisfied with the quality of their meals. They have a great selection of pies, hot drinks, and other dishes. Definitely stop here if you're visiting Bothwell or passing through the area.
5 This place deserves five stars purely for their venison pies. Incredibly meaty and chunky with a nice gravy. They are divine. Their coffee is also really nice. It's a great eating area, and good for sitting indoors, with a few tables outside. The gift shop has lots of nice things in it too. The ladies were really friendly and helpful.
5 A charming little cafe in this tiny town. The staff are friendly, place is clean and has a very laid back ambience. Their scones are magic! So yummy, not so sweet, very dense and perfectly warm. Soy chai latte was also wonderful, perfectly spiced and creamy. You can also but gifts and souvenirs there, we had a great time
5 A hidden countryside gem. Down to earth service and honest house made foods. Must try its house made pies. Version pie is my favourite. Worth a detour on the way to Hobart/Launceston.
5 Great cafe! The home made pies were amazing and the service excellent. Highly recommend.
5 Beautiful old building. Open 7 days a week. Food and coffee are excellent.

5 Got a chicken curry pie with salad/relish & a flat white. Went here after a round of golf at Ratho farms. Very good value, and a delicious meal, highly recommend.
